site.btaParliament Chair: It Is Beter If Legislature Passes Fewer but Better Laws

In the current situation it is better if the National Assembly adopted fewer but more seriously discussed bills and not to repeat mistakes of previous parliaments, National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova said on Wednesday at the presentation of the new issue of "Legal Barometer".
"If it is possible that most of the legislation we have adopted will not be subject to constitutional review, I think this is a good start for a return to the normal functioning of the National Assembly," Kiselova added.
A record low number of new laws, only three for the whole year 2024, is reported in the new issue of "Legal Barometer" - a civil initiative for periodic monitoring and evaluation of the state and development of the legal order in Bulgaria, headed by Prof. Daniel Valchev. 2024 became the year with the lowest number of new laws adopted since the beginning of the survey in 2010. A tendency for more than 90% of laws to be amended and supplemented more than once a year remains. The Code of Social Insurance is again the law with the highest annual average number of amendments - seven times a year, the new issue of the magazine reports.
