The Kozloduy N-Plant is holding a schoоl emergency preparedness competition among 30 students from Kozloduy, Montana, Belene and Mizia, the N-plant's press centre said. This year’s motto is "Safety First". The competition, as well as emergency preparedness training in all schools in the Kozloduy and Mizia municipalities, are part of a targeted and consistent effort to maintain a high level of awareness among the youngest citizens living in the plant area.
The active outreach to youth in the settlements around the N-plant was noted as a good practice during an International Atomic Energy Agency's OSART mission in 2024.
"The nuclear power plant continues an established tradition of open dialogue with the students from the localities in the region, simultaneously promoting important topics related to various aspects of safety and presenting the nuclear industry as a promising opportunity for future professional career," Kozloduy N-plant said.
The competition will be attended by students from the Igor Kurchatov Vocational School of Nuclear Energy, St. Kiril and Metodii and Hristo Botev Secondary Schools from Kozloduy, Maria Sklodowska-Curie Vocational School of Nuclear Energy from Kozloduy. the Petar Bogdan Secondary School from Belene. Montana, and the Vasil Levski High School of Business and Finance from Montana. They will be divided into six teams. The event will be held at the House of Energy in Kozloduy.
The emergency preparedness competition is organized by Kozloduy N-plant in cooperation with the Association Women in the Nuclear Industry – Bulgaria - WiN Bulgaria, the Nuclear Regulatory Agency, the Bulgarian Red Cross office in Vratsa, NPP Kozloduy - New Capacities EAD and the Bulgarian Atomic Forum.
