site.btaEconomy Minister Dilov Highlights Positive Developments of Bulgarian-French Economic Relations
A meeting between Minister of Economy and Industry Petar Dilov and French Ambassador to Bulgaria Joel Meyer, attended also by Stéphane Delahaye, President of the French-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIFB) revealed that Bulgarian-French economic relations have had positive development in recent years, with trade turnover exceeding EUR 2.616 billion in 2024, the Ministry of Economy and Industry said in a press release on Tuesday.
Minister Dilov emphasized that French companies are among the leading investors in Bulgaria, with foreign direct investment from France amounting to EUR 1.5 billion.
The latest CCIFB survey presented at the meeting shows that French companies operating in Bulgaria give a positive assessment of the local business environment, with many planning to expand their operations in the country.
Minister Dilov and Ambassador Meyer identified potential for enhanced bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy, innovation, and infrastructure development.
“The Ministry of Economy and Industry is actively working to reduce the administrative burden on businesses by establishing clearer rules and accelerating administrative procedures,” said Minister Dilov.
The meeting also covered Bulgaria’s progress towards joining the Eurozone and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) leading to increased investor confidence and a more secure business environment.
Minister Dilov extended congratulations on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the French-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. During the discussion, the French Ambassador and representatives of the Chamber presented upcoming initiatives aimed at promoting Bulgaria as an investment destination to the French business community.
