The Magic of Busintsi Ceramics exhibition will open at the Regional History Museum in Pernik on Wednesday.

The exhibition is dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the birth of Petar Gigov, the master potter from the village of Busintsi in Tran Municipality.

Gigov championed the preservation of this craft in the village and took part in national and international exhibitions of artistic and applied crafts in Plovdiv, Moscow, Tokyo, Delhi, Prague, Oslo, and at the World Expo in Osaka. His vessels are featured in the Bulgarian section of the Museum of Man in Paris. In 1963, he was awarded the Order of St. St. Cyril and Methodius 1st degree.

The village of Busintsi is also home to the Museum of Busin Ceramics, which is among the most visited tourist sites in the region. Its collection contains over 1,300 objects made of clay by more than a thousand craftsmen from the village and the surrounding area.
