Bulgaria’s defence cooperation with North Macedonia was discussed on Monday between Defence Minister Atanas Zapryanov and North Macedonia’s Ambassador to Bulgaria Agneza Rusi Popovska, Zapryanov’s ministry reported.
The talks focused on interaction in the field of defence infrastructure and ways to deepen it. The sides shared the view that much potential exists in this area. They also looked at the prospects for joint work in military education and military medicine. Zapryanov and Popovska concurred on the importance of cooperation in the contemporary global and regional security environment. It was noted that NATO countries are committed to increasing their public spending on defence.
Ambassador Popovska thanked Bulgaria for providing medical treatment to people injured in a March 16 nightclub fire in Kocani, North Macedonia, stressing the contribution of military and civilian employees of the Military Medical Academy and the Bulgarian Air Force, the press release said.
