MECh will be submitting a motion for a vote of no confidence against the Cabinet over corruption, the party leader, Radostin Vassilev, told the parliamentary reporters on Wednesday. "We have intercepted corruption elements in five segments of the governance, connected with this Cabinet," he said.

He added that the same practices were used under previous governments.

In his words, the past four months of the Rosen Zhelyazkov Cabinet's tenure, and the vote on the state budget and the initial steps of budget spending have made it clear that "there is a major corruption aspect in this government".

Vassilev said he had been assured by Vazrazhdane and Velichie that they would back the motion. He is confident that the motion will have the required number of signatures to be submitted and put up for debate in plenary the week before Easter. The exact timeline is to be determined by Parliament's Presiding Body.

MECh have also spoken to Continue the Change and they reconfirmed their position not to back no-confidence motions against the Cabinet before the convergence reports on Bulgaria's eurozone membership aspirations are put out - "even though they agree that corruption is an issue", to use Vassilev's words.

On April 3, the Zhelyazkov Cabinet survived the first no-confidence vote against it. It was submitted by Vazrazhdane, with the support of Velichie and MECh, over the government's foreign policy.
