MRF - Democracy, Rights and Freedoms (MRF-DRF), one of two spin-off parties formed after a rift in the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF), is holding a meeting of its collective bodies this coming Tuesday to decide whether or not they are withdrawing their support for the government coalition. "Our collective bodies are meeting on Tuesday to discuss the situation and make a decision, of which you will be duly informed," MRF-DRF leader Dzhevdet Chakarov told reporters who approached him on the matter.
The other party that cropped up as a spin-off of the original MRF is MRF - New Beginning of Delyan Peevski.
Chakarov called on GERB - UDF, the largest party in the ruling majority, to come out and "clearly tell" Bulgarian people how they intend to run the country: as a country with rule of law or as a hostage to what he called "the Peevski model" and his networks.
Chakarov also said: "When we at MRF-DRF were invited and accepted to join the ruling majority, we did it with clear awareness and firm priorities: stability of the State, adoption of a budget reflecting the commitment for entry to the eurozone. Another and no less important priority was dismantling the Peevski model: that vicious mechanism of dependencies, corruption schemes and behind-the-scene influences, which have been undermining the Bulgarian statehood for long years. Two and a half months later, everybody can see the reality: this model is being swiftly consolidated instead of being dismantled. We are wondering if a new, unofficial government majority exists, dominated by Peevski".
Chakarov went on to say that all regulators that are elected by Parliament, have not been discussed and agreed by the parliamentary majority as the joint governance agreement says they should. "Nominations like that of a Constitutional Court judge were pushed through with the clear support of MRF - New Beginning," he added.
