site.btaWe Will Not Allow Bulgaria to Be Governed like Payday Loan Company, Velichie Leader Ivelin Mihaylov Says

In a statement on behalf of the Velichie [Grandeur] parliamentary group, Velichie Floor Leader Ivelin Mihaylov told the National Assembly that his party "will not allow Bulgaria to be governed like a payday loan company", nor will they allow "the people to be oppressed and robbed". He and nine other members of the political formation were sworn in as MPs earlier in the day.
In his declaration, Mihaylov outlined Velichie’s main goals and priorities in the 51st National Assembly. "We intend to continue being outspoken fighters against corruption and the 'deep state' at all levels and in every manifestation. In our work in the 51st National Assembly, we will engage in active dialogue solely in the interest of the people and will respond to invitations for such dialogue to reach consensus on important issues for our state and society," he claimed.
"We will categorically oppose all attempts by the politico-oligarchic symbiosis in our country to enrich itself at the expense of tax and administrative burdens on citizens," Mihaylov added.
His statement further alleges that, by the will of a certain "mafia elite", the Velichie party was turned into a "convenient victim of political corruption" in Bulgaria. "The parliamentary elections in Bulgaria were turned into a monstrous, brazen, and arrogant trade of votes," Mihaylov also claimed.
"We requested the Constitutional Court to review the results in all 12,920 polling stations across the country and to issue a ruling for the full annulment of the October 27, 2024, elections. It is unsatisfactory that the Constitutional Court did not conduct the full review of election results in the country that we requested, which would have revealed the enormous scale of manipulation," Mihaylov argued.
"Now that we are finally, albeit belatedly, part of Bulgaria’s political landscape, we declare our unwavering determination to continue being the voice of the problems, expectations, and will of every citizen of this country. We will defend their fundamental rights and freedoms, regardless of ethnicity, faith, social status, or other characteristics," the Velichie leader said.
Mihaylov further noted that Velichie will focus on environmental protection, as well as policies in education, healthcare, energy, agriculture, youth and sports, tourism, culture, among others.
