A sustainable energy future can be achieved through a clear vision and decisive action, Deputy Minister of Energy Iva Petrova said on Wednesday at the opening of the “Energy of Tomorrow” business conference at the Inter Expo Centre in Sofia. In her words, in the face of global challenges, clear development and adaptation to the rapidly changing environment is necessary.

The transition to a low-carbon economy is a powerful driver, but to be successful it needs two things - affordable energy and new technologies, Petrova said. She noted that this means not just abandoning energy-intensive practices but also investing in new solutions to boost clean and affordable energy. Bulgaria has the ambition to be an active participant in this process, the Deputy Energy Minister pointed out.

Continuous efforts are also being made to diversify energy sources, including the supply of nuclear fuel and natural gas, as well as to develop the interconnection of networks with all Bulgaria's neighbours, Petrova added.
