Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Lozana Vasileva Thursday met here with Wang Liejun, Chief Livestock Officer at the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Vasileva's Ministry said in a press release. In the Bulgarian Minister's words, the cooperation between Bulgaria and China in the field of agriculture and food is developing very actively and constantly expanding.
Vasileva noted that in 2023, bilateral trade in agricultural and food products reached USD 640.6 million, which is an increase by 37% from 2022. Bulgaria has launched 39 procedures for export of Bulgarian agricultural and food products to China, and 11 of these have been finalised. This will create conditions for a significant increase of the volume and types of Bulgarian products imported in China, she added.
Vasileva and Wang Liejun agreed that the Centre for Promotion of Cooperation in Farming between China and Central and Eastern European Countries is of key significance and an important instrument for developing agriculture and promoting trade in agricultural and food products within the 14+1 multilateral format.
On his part, Wang Liejun confirmed China's wish for strengthening the bilateral ties. He noted the high qualities of Bulgarian food products and expressed the hope that ever more of them will reach Chinese consumers' table.
