The election of a National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) Governor is on the agenda of the National Assembly on Thursday.

The only nominee, Associate Professor Petko Stefanovski, was put forward by GERB-UDF. He told a Health Committee hearing in Parliament on February 27 that if elected, he would prioritize the public's access to healthcare services and medical procedures, along with expanding preventive care. Optimizing hospital care, pharmaceutical policy and timely access to modern medicinal products will also be his focus. He said the development of electronic healthcare, the efficient use of financial resources, effective control and public transparency would also be among his priorities.
