National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova participated in the traditional planting of vineyards near Lyaskovets (Central Bulgaria) on Friday.

She joined the ritual for Vine-growers' Day, which began with a festive blessing of water, performed by Metropolitan Grigory of Veliko Tarnovo. The Metropolitan pointed out that in addition to planting the vines, people must not forget that on this day in 869, Saint Constantine-Cyril the Philosopher was reborn.  The beginning of the ritual was given by the King of the Vineyards, who pronounced the name with a reenactment representing expatriates from the previous century.

After the ritual, Kiselova wished for sunny weather to help the grapes to ripen fully and the wine to be of good quality. She stressed that efforts are needed to support Bulgarian producers, because there will be a better quality of life with quality Bulgarian food and drinks.

The ceremony was also attended by Lyaskovets Mayor Vasil Todorov, Veliko Tarnovo Regional Governor Ivaylo Zdravkov and BSP - United Left MP Mariana Boyadzhieva. The festive day continued on in Lyaskovets with a solemn speech from the Mayor, performances by local dancers and awards for the best producers of Lyaskovets homemade wine from the 2024 harvest.
