Bulgarian statespersons and politicians extended their New Year greetings to the nation on Wednesday.
Addressing the nation on New Year's Eve, Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev said that "it is time for us together to seek a path beyond political weakness, corruption and insecurity". "It is time for us to set high goals together. Every day, thousands of our fellow citizens - scientists, engineers, artists and cultural figures, Olympic medallists - with stamina, will and hard work, write new pages in the history of our fatherland and give us confidence that we can do much more," Radev said.
In a Facebook post, Parliament Chair Nataliya Kiselova extended her wishes for "a more successful and healthy year". She said that "the new year brings pre-existing challenges" including a political crisis, a justice deficit, widespread fatigue, and inaction in strategic areas.
Caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev also shared his wishes for health, peace, and prosperity in the new year. Reflecting on Bulgaria's full-fledged Schengen membership, he said that it marks another successfully realized national priority for the country.
Vice President Iliana Iotova wished on Facebook: "Happy New Year! May it be healthy, peaceful, and prosperous!"
GERB leader Boyko Borissov posted a video message on Facebook, wishing "all Bulgarians to live in a peaceful, stable, and secure Bulgaria."
Continue the Change co-leader Kiril Petkov wished all Bulgarians good health, happiness, and success in 2025. He also extended his congratulations on Bulgaria's acceptance as a full Schengen member. "Schengen is another step forward for Bulgaria. A few extra billions to our economy, more exports, faster deliveries to Europe, more jobs, and deeper integration within Europe," noted Petkov.
Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov wrote: "May we be healthy and steadfast! The world is changing - for the better, I believe - and I am confident that we will start writing the history of our homeland again!"
In a statement released from his coalition’s press service, Movement for Rights and Freedoms – New Beginning leader Delyan Peevski said: "The New Year brings hope and faith in a new beginning. Let 2025 be a time for a new beginning for Bulgaria, with concern for the well-being of all people. The best is yet to come!"
There Is Such a People leader Slavi Trifonov also shared his wishes on Facebook: "We, Bulgarians, deserve only good things to happen to us. Because of our history, because of our qualities, because of our efforts, and because of who we are. I wish you health and wisdom. May each of you achieve your dreams. I wish your good luck. It is always needed!"
Morality, Unity, Honor (MECh) leader Radostin Vasilev expressed his hopes for health and well-being in every Bulgarian home in 2025. "I wish you a year in which we will have the inspiration and determination to create the Bulgaria that millions of Bulgarians, at home and abroad, long for," he wrote on Facebook.
