Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Kondov on Friday met with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto, who is paying a visit to Sofia, Kondov's Ministry said in a press release. The sides noted the dynamic development of the bilateral ties and discussed the options for deeper cooperation in various fields of mutual interest. Special attention was paid to the further development of trade and economic relations between Bulgaria and Hungary.

Kondov expressed gratitude for the support of the Hungarian EU Council Presidency for the lift of internal border control, which makes possible Bulgaria's full membership in the Schengen area.

The sides also discussed current matters on the European and international agenda, such as EU enlargement, the war of Russia in Ukraine, and Trans-Atlantic relations.
