Nobody Wants to Be Supreme Administrative Court President

Nobody wants to be President of the Supreme Administrative Court (SAC). No nominations were made during the meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) on Thursday, which was the last possible day for making nominations, according to the rules.

The procedure was called off for lack of candidates. 

No one of the SJC members wanted to speak at the sitting. All 17 members voted to discontinue the procedure.

The nomination and election procedure opened October 17 and there were four weeks for making nominations. According to the timeframe adopted by the Judges Chamber on October 8, the SAC President was due to be elected on March 20, 2025.

On November 12, the Judges Chamber voted 8-2 to make the Georgi Cholakov acting President from November 22 to the day a new President is elected.
