A regular meeting of the interdepartmental coordination mechanism on Bulgaria's accession to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, chaired by Deputy Minister Maria Angelieva, her Ministry said in a press release here on Monday. The accession process has entered its decisive phase, given the goal to complete technical negotiations by the end of 2025.
Angelieva noted that the OECD Secretariat still considers this goal entirely achievable, thanks to the positive evaluation of the progress made so far. In this context, she urged all relevant institutions within the central administration to remain fully committed to avoid any delays. She also mentioned an upcoming visit to Sofia in November by representatives of the OECD Secretariat.
During the meeting, participants reviewed the current status of the accession process across various committees and working groups. They discussed the OECD's recommendations for further actions, reports from completed technical reviews, and the measures already taken, as well as those planned, in the National Roadmap to align policies with OECD principles and standards.
The interdepartmental coordination mechanism involves all ministries and state agencies collaborating to achieve this key national priority for Bulgaria.
