Vazrazhdane Deputy Chair Tsoncho Ganev Tuesday told reporters that the European Commission portfolio assigned to Bulgaria showed a disrespectful attitude towards this country. He was referring to the portfolio of Ekaterina Zaharieva, who was nominated for European Commissioner.

"What we have received as a portfolio reflects Bulgaria's position in the EU and the level of respect accorded to it," Ganev said. "We do not expect anything good from this commissioner in terms of protecting national priorities. Overall, this shows a disrespectful attitude towards Bulgaria," he added.

Earlier in the day, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen unveiled the proposed team of European Commissioners. Ekaterina Zaharieva is one of 11 women, and her designated portfolio is Startups, Research, and Innovation.
