site.bta5.2 Magnitude Earthquake in Romania Felt in Bulgaria
An earthquake measuring 5.2 points on the Richter scale, epicentred in the Vrancea seismic area, Buzău County, Eastern Romania and registered at 5:40 p.m. Romanian and Bulgarian time on Monday was felt on upper floors of buildings in Bulgaria's Danube River port of Ruse. No incidents, property damage or injured people were reported in Ruse, the Head of the Fire and Civil Protection Directorate of Ruse Region, Svetoslav Voichev, told BTA.
The Agerpres news agency quoted Romania's National Research and Development Institute for Earth Physics as saying that the jolt struck at a depth of 140 km and was felt in the Romanian capital Bucharest. According to HotNews.ro, this is the strongest earthquake in Romania so far in 2024.
