Vazrazhdane has nominated Victor Papazov for Bulgarian EU Commissioner, the party's deputy Chairman Tsoncho Ganev said at a briefing here on Wednesday.

"We are nominating a person who will defend only national interests if elected. We have, of course, no illusions that this thing will happen," Ganev said.

He pointed out that Papazov is a proven professional with economic experience, the founder of the Stock Exchange in the early 1990s. He was the deputy chair of the Central Depository.

Although Vazrazhdane has a nomination for European Commissioner, Tsoncho Ganev noted that their group in the European Parliament voted against the election of Ursula von der Leyen as President of the European Commission and does not approve of her priorities.
