Montana Wushu Coach Asen Asenov Wins Gold, Silver Medal at Wing Chun World Championship in China

Asen Asenov, Wushu Coach from Montana, Nothwestern Bulgaria, won a gold and silver medal in separate disciplines, as well as third place in the complex classification, at the first World Wing Chun Championship held in China, reported the Montana Wushu club. The championship took place in the legendary Southern Shaolin Monastery in Fujian and in the metropolis of Fuzhou.

Asenov became the champion in the Biu Jee discipline and took silver in the Mienshao discipline. He also took the third place in the complex ranking in the tetraathlon.

More than 170 masters of the Chinese martial art of Wing Chun competed in the world championship, selected from more than 1,000 participants from 30 countries. Five other Bulgarians also qualified for the finals.

Asenov graduated from the National Sports Academy in Sofia as a Wushu Coach.  He is the creator and trainer of the Montana Chinese Martial Arts Club. Asenov started practicing various martial arts during his school years. Since 1992, he has been engaged in the Chinese martial art of Wing Chun, which is the basis of the style of Hollywood action hero Bruce Lee. In 2006, he became a member of the European Wing Chun Organization.
