Residents of the village of Yasenovets (Northeast Bulgaria) gathered on Wednesday for a peaceful protest because of the systematic lack of water for domestic needs in the settlement. "In one part of the village there has been a permanent lack of water for two months. This situation has been repeated every year for the past few years," said village Mayor Reyhan Hussain.

He added that the locals' dissatisfaction was directed at the management of the Razgrad water utility, Vodosnabdyavane Dunav EOOD.

According to the protesters, a solution to the problem must be found because the situation cannot be repeated every year during the summer months. The Mayor explained that he had already held a meeting with the manager of the water supply company, who assured him that within a month the problem would be solved. "If this does not happen, the people will move to effective action and will not give up," he said. Hussain added that the institutions need to take the necessary measures.

The problem with the water supply in several villages in Razgrad Municipality, including Yasenovets, is due to the reduced flow rate of the water sources of the Cherkovna water supply system, Rakovski water supply system and the village of Osenets, Vodosnabdyavane Dunav EOOD said a month ago.
