The President is interfering in the work of the executive power branch in an inadmissible manner, telling who should be in the next caretaker government, caretaker Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov said here Monday. He was speaking after joining police officers protecting outside the President's office following the refusal of President Rumen Radev to sign a decree for the appointment of a caretaker cabinet in which Stoyanov keeps his office.
Stoyanov thanked the police officers for their "spontaneous reaction to oppose unprecedented attempts to capture the Interior Ministry system". He also thanked Goritsa Grancharova-Kozhareva for trusting him with the position of Interior Minister. "For me, this woman is more of a man than several others taken together," he said.
He also said that "a plan has been set in motion" to have elections with a controlled Interior Ministry and an underhand deal with the President.
Grancharova-Kozhareva went to the protesting policemen together with Stoyanov.
Some of the protestors were carrying posters reading "Leave the minister to do his job!".
