During Friday’s parliamentary blitz control, caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev said that any suggestions of political motives in the appointment and dismissal of regional governors are completely untenable. He responded to a question asked by independent MPs formerly part of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) group related to the change of regional governors.

"When making personnel decisions, the leading criterion for me is the professional competence of the selected persons, not their political affiliation. For the implementation of good interactions in the executive power at the central and local level, I expect this criterion to be the leading one for the designated regional governors and deputies when exercising their powers," said Glavchev.

"It is normal to appoint political figures. I have always advocated the thesis when they go to their positions, they should not show party bias", the caretaker Prime Minister also pointed out.

Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev said that he refuses to get involved in MRF’s “internal squabbles”.

MP Pavlin Krastev demanded an answer as to the reasons for the release of the regional governors of Kardzhali and Smolyan and the deputy regional governors of Dobrich and Pleven, as well as whether the change was related to their political positions." This is not an isolated case, but a tendency that can be observed. Every day we witness pressure, shifts, dismissals at the executive and local government level of people who expressed support for Dr. Ahmed Dogan and support a MRF without Delyan Peevski", he also pointed out.

Glavchev replied that the decision on the changes was made by the Council of Ministers and by him as prime minister under the conditions of operational autonomy. "You should keep in mind that regional governors and their deputies are not mandated bodies and are subject to change at any time, at the discretion of the bodies that appointed them", he added.
