site.btaBulgarian President Meets with International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies Secretary General

The Red Cross's paramount mission is to provide humanitarian assistance during severe global crises and persist as humanity's vigilant conscience, President Rumen Radev said at a meeting with Chief Executive Officer and Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Jagan Chapagain on Wednesday, Radev's press secretariat shared. Vice President Iliana Iotova, Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC) President Hristo Grigorov and Director General Krasimir Gigov, and members of the IFRC international federation also attended the meeting.

"Human life holds paramount importance, necessitating unified efforts in both public and international arenas for its preservation", Radev said and pointed out Red Cross’s key role in this.

"Dialogue is essential as it serves as a means to resolve the military conflicts worldwide", Chapagain said.

All attendees agreed that the value of human life holds equal importance worldwide, and pain and human suffering should not vary based on their location or perpetrator.

Radev expressed gratitude to Chapagain for the excellent cooperation and support IFRC provides to the BRC. For his part, Chapagain praised the contribution of the BRC to the work of the International Federation.

The talk highlighted the significant role of BRC Cross's youth organization in promoting humanitarian values and principles through its volunteering activities. "Investing in the education of young people, who willingly dedicate themselves to aiding the most vulnerable with a firm belief in the power of solidarity, is crucial for our society", Radev said.

Radev and Chapagain discussed the upcoming IFRC’s 34th International Conference. Chapagain expressed hope that Bulgaria will be represented at the highest level at the international forum in Geneva.
