Firefighting teams have been working in the villages of Kraynovo, Voden and Sharkovo since Thursday, as the wildfires have taken over a wider area, said Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov in the village of Mamarchevo.

“One of the fires is spreading to the Bulgarian-Turkish border, which is relatively close. There are several houses affected in the village of Kraynovo. About ten houses have been identified, and half of them are not habitable. The rest are inhabited periodically throughout the years. No people were injured and there were no casualties. The situation in Kraynovo was the most difficult on Thursday," he added.

He said the two helicopters of the Bulgarian armed forces and the two helicopters from the Czech Republic, will be deployed to fight the fires. “France is ready to send two helicopters and the gas station is secured,” Stoyanov said.

Вчера в село Воден Гавчев съобщи, че ще бъдат извършени проверки и ако се установят пропуски, ще бъдат взети съответните мерки. Ако има пропуски, бъдете сигурни, че ще вземем адекватни решения, допълни служебният премиер.

Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev is expected to convene the Security Council with the Council of Ministers on Friday.

Visiting the village of Voden on Thursday, where 35 houses burnt down, Glavchev said that checks would be carried out and if any faults were found, appropriate measures would be taken.
