GERB's proposal for Boyko Borissov to take on the role of prime minister is "completely unacceptable," the Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) coalition said in a position released on Monday. "We will not participate in horse-trading," added CC-DB, the second-largest force in Parliament.
Earlier in the day, GERB leader Boyko Borissov told a press conference Monday that he had made a fair offer to CC-DB: a Parliament Chair nominated by CC-DB, and a Prime Minister from GERB.
"The only way out of this major political crisis is to unblock the work of the National Assembly and form a pro-European government, led by a prime minister that is equally distant [from all political entities], ensuring that Peevski is completely excluded from all positions of power in the State. This is what our voters have mandated us to do," the CC-DB said.
"It is becoming increasingly clear that Borissov's main goal is to block the work of the National Assembly" so that the Supreme Judicial Council can proceed with the election of Borislav Sarafov as Prosecutor General for the next seven years. "We will not allow this to happen," the coalition said.
"If, after all, GERB are willing to discuss the sanitary cordon and curbing Peevski's influence – what we have always set as necessary conditions for our country to progress and emerge from the crisis - we are open to such discussions," the CC-DB said.
