Two Czech helicopters landed at Plovdiv Airport, its CEO Doychin Angelov told BTA on Wednesday evening. The Interior Ministry's Chief Secretary Dimitar Kangaldzhiev said those helicopters would not join the firefighting effort on Wednesday because they fly during daylight hours.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev visited Stara Zagora (Southern Bulgaria), one of the regions most impacted by wildfires. He said Czechia and Romania were ready to provide assistance.
Also on Tuesday, the European Commission said it had deployed aid to Bulgaria and North Macedonia in response to severe forest fires following urgent activation of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
