The newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Bulgaria, Rami bin Saud Al-Otaibi, handed the copies of his credentials to Bulgarian Deputy Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov on Tuesday, said the Ministry.

The two sides expressed a mutual desire for further development and expansion of the excellent relations between Bulgaria and Saudi Arabia. They also noted that the forthcoming first session of the Joint Committee in September 2024 will outline concrete opportunities for deepening trade and economic cooperation and interaction in a number of areas of mutual interest.

The first session of the Joint Committee for Economic Cooperation between Bulgaria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is expected to be held in Sofia in September of 2024. On the sidelines there will be a large-scale bilateral business forum. The agreement, providing the legal framework for the establishment of a joint committee between the two countries, was signed in March 2023 in Sofia.

The current situation in the Middle East was also discussed, as Kondov emphasized the active role of Saudi Arabia in efforts to ensure regional security and to restore the political horizon concerning the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
