site.btaPresident Expects Clarity as Early as These Days on Whether There Will Be Majority in Parliament, Support for Second Exploratory Mandate

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, President Rumen Radev said he expects it to become clear as early as these days whether there will be a majority in the 50th National Assembly and support for the second cabinet-forming mandate, which is to be handed to Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) as the second biggest group in Parliament. The reactions of the other parliamentary groups will be a clear sign as to whether there will be such support, Radev noted, adding that he we take his decision accordingly. 

Radev explained that he will take into account the problems of the Bulgarian National Assembly. "I have always been led by the Constitution, so I will act that way now too," he said firmly.

On Monday, CC-DB had a meeting with the head of State to discuss their ideas for a possible exit from the political crisis and when the second exploratory mandate for the formation of a regular cabinet could be handed. CC-DB asked Radev to give them three months before handing them the mandate so that they could seek broad support for a package of legal changes to enhance the fight against corruption. 

Radev was at the Vrazhdebna Transport Air Base near Sofia on Tuesday morning to mark the 20th anniversary of the introduction in the Bulgarian Air Force of PC-9M training aircraft and PC-12/45 transport aircraft, made by Switzerland's Pilatus Aircraft.
