The head of the European Commission Representation in Bulgaria, Yordanka Chobanova, Thursday urged Bulgarian people to vote in the European elections on June 9. "If we do not all go out and vote on Sunday, we will directly influence the election results, and not in the direction we would all like the European Union to go, because we will leave it to others to choose for us who makes the decisions in Europe," Chobanova said at a BTA-hosted news conference on Thursday. She took part in the presentation of a study by the Center for the Study of Democracy on disinformation and how to deal with it.

"Let us all be vigilant against manipulations about the EU. When we talk about manipulation, I do not mean criticizing European politics. Critical views pertaining to the EU are useful and they are a mandatory element in the election campaign," Chobanova said. It is useful to have debates, to argue, but it should be based on concrete and accurate facts and data, she added.

The day of reflection before the fateful European elections is approaching and this is a good moment to address the Bulgarian citizens to actively exercise their right to vote, she said. "On Sunday, let us all not miss this historic moment for Europe, let us have our say, let us elect our political representatives, because this is how we design the political future of Europe," Yordanka Chobanova said.
