site.btaSocialists Believe Green Deal Should Be Revised, Coal Regions Exempt from Taxes

The Green Deal should be completely revised, said here on Monday Kristian Vigenin, the BSP for Bulgaria Coalition's top-of-the-list candidate for the June 9 European Parliament elections. He was speaking at a meeting of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria with BSP for Bulgaria's leading candidates.

Vigenin said that BSP are proposing that the coal regions be transformed into economic zones with zero taxes for a sufficiently long period of time to facilitate the transition. 

Due to the Green Deal restrictions, a ticket from Munich to Sofia is twice as expensive as from Munich to Istanbul, said Hristo Prodanov, BSP for Bulgaria's top-of-the-list candidate in Sofia. BSP do not agree for the Maritsa East Energy Complex to be closed earlier than 2038, he said. Even if the thermal power plants do not operate on this scale, there is a secure market for the coal.

On the fight against the demographic crisis, BSP proposes a system of incentives that will lead to a higher birth rate and young people to stay in Bulgaria, Kristian Vigenin said. Bulgaria should aim for the three-child model, he added. 

BSP also pointed out that they are against the entry of GMOs in agriculture and food and will fight for equal treatment of Bulgarian farmers on the European market.
