Caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev has tasked the State Agency for National Security (SANS) to carry out a check into the case of the Mom and Me Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment in Sofia, and has also referred the case to the prosecution service, the Government Information Service said on Tuesday. He has sent to the two institutions the documents on the case available at the Council of Ministers' administration as well as a report elaborated by the Health Minister at Glavchev's request about the procedure for the approval of the hospital's establishment.

Following the strong public reaction to the news of the approved establishment of the hospital, the Prime Minister insists that the SANS check the related actions of the Health Ministry, the National Health Insurance Fund, and the Medical Supervision Executive Agency. To be checked are their actions at every stage since the launch of the procedure, the press release reads.

In his alert to the prosecution service, Glavchev requests a check whether there is data for crimes in the facts and circumstances presented for the hospital's establishment as well as in the related actions taken by the  Health Ministry, the National Health Insurance Fund, and the Medical Supervision Executive Agency since the procedure's launch.

On April 30, the Council of Ministers approved the establishment of the private Mom and Me Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment. The investor, Commercial League - Global Pharma Center, intended to carry out treatment activities in 39 medical specialties, in 30 clinics and wards, which will have a total of 413 beds, wards without beds and laboratories for diagnosis and treatment of people both 0 to 18 years old and over 18 years old. The Council of Ministers' decision caused a string of criticism from multiple political forces and figures. The Public Council for the establishment of a National Children's Hospital in Sofia demanded that the caretaker government provide an immediate explanation for the approval of the project, as this could potentially jeopardise the long term efforts to establish a children's hospital. On May 1, the caretaker Prime Minister cancelled the decision.
