People of decent work create meaning, well-being and a decent future for all, and this is the great lesson of Labour Day and of international workers' solidarity, President Rumen Radev wrote on his Facebook page on Wednesday on the occasion of Labour Day. 

"May 1 is a symbol of an enlightened society that respects and promotes honest work and builds its development on this conscious moral foundation. The history of this day is a chronicle of the struggle of generations for the rights of workers and to guarantee decent wages," Radev said.

In the absence of social justice, every society is doomed to insecurity, division, contradictions and crises that invalidate it and render the achievement of great national goals impossible, he added. 

Radev added that restoring the sense of justice and guaranteeing the social security of citizens is the path Bulgaria has to take in order to tackle the alarming demographic trends and the depopulation of entire regions. "Bulgarians will have no doubts that our country is the place for their life and professional fulfillment when work here guarantees adequate income, dignity, security and prospects to realize their talents. Happy May 1!" the President wrote.
