MPs are scheduled to debate on Thursday the draft decision for the early dismissal of Parliament Chair Rosen Zhelyazkov, submitted Wednesday and signed by MPs from Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria and BSP for Bulgaria. According to Parliament's rules of procedure, the motion is put to a vote during the first parliamentary sitting after it has been tabled.

The rules of procedure stipulate that the Chair and Deputy chairs of Parliament may be dismissed early on a written proposal by at least one-third of all MPs when there is an objective inability for them to perform their duties or a systematic overstepping of their rights or a systematic failure to perform the duties within their competence. The motion shall be put to the vote at the first sitting following the day on which it is received, and the person shall be given the right to be heard. It shall be adopted if more than half of the present MPs vote in favour.

On Wednesday, the co-floor leader of the CC-DB Parliamentary Group, Kiril Petkov, also explained that the request would be considered the next day. The request for the resignation of Rosen Zhelyazkov was tabled with the clear motives that he had abused his position on more than one occasion, Petkov argued.

Parliament's agenda for the day also includes a second reading of amendments to the Energy Act related to the postponement of the liberalisation of the electricity market for household consumers.
