The Vazrazhdane party has moved a draft parliamentary resolution for sending humanitarian aid to Gaza. Proposed by MP Daniel Prodanov, the draft resolution mandates the Council of Ministers to discuss and implement a package of measures and actions.

The proposal is for providing humanitarian aid to the Palestinian civilian population affected by the hostilities, in accordance with the objective capabilities of Bulgaria. Of course, this should be done taking into account the operational mechanism for the safe dispatch, receipt and storage of humanitarian aid supplies, in particular medicines, clothing and foodstuffs, through the Cyprus initiative for a maritime transport humanitarian corridor, known as Amalthea, or other international initiatives established for this purpose," Prodanov said as quoted by the party press office.

With more than 40 countries already coordinating with each other to build and operate the aforementioned maritime transport corridor, it is imperative that Bulgaria declares and puts into practice its will to save as many lives as possible in Gaza.

Prodanov added: "Today, thousands of children in the Gaza Strip are destitute and defenceless - something that the UN and a number of governments have repeatedly sounded the alarm for."
