An emergency response exercise will take place in Sofia on Wednesday, the Interior Ministry said. The aim is to test the preparedness of the management bodies and response forces at the national and territorial level.

Some 200 people will take part in the exercise, the Ministry added.

The exercise will involve teams of the Interior Ministry, Defence Ministry, Sofia Municipality, Emergency Medical Service, and the Bulgarian Red Cross, among others. It is scheduled to start at 10 pm. The Interior Ministry warns of possible traffic difficulties in the area around Sofia University and the St. Alexander Nevski Cathedral.
