Bulgaria has great potential and impressive achievements in science. The recognition for Bulgaria came from the President of the European Research Council (ERC), Prof. Maria Leptin, who had a meeting with Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov in Davos, the Council of Ministers said on Facebook on Tuesday.
At a private meeting in Davos, where the World Economic Forum is being held, Maria Leptin and the Bulgarian Prime Minister discussed the challenges and opportunities for a breakthrough in European research. Prof. Leptin presented new ideas for improving the work of the ERC and together with Denkov discussed options for enhancing the participation of Bulgarian scientists in the Council’s projects.
Denkov briefed Leptin on the BgGPT project - the first open large AI language model of the latest generation, created for the Bulgarian State, users, public and private organizations. It was officially presented on 15 January.
BgGPT is the latest development in the field of artificial intelligence by the Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Technology INSAIT at Sofia University. It will be available free of charge in Bulgarian on March 3.
Prime Minister Denkov also briefed the ERC on the developments of the GATE and PlantaSYST institutes. He invited Prof. Leptin to Bulgaria to get acquainted with the research community and its work.
