The Interior Ministry's Secretary General, Zhivko Kotsev, held a working meeting with French Attache for Internal Security Laurent Hurst, the Interior Ministry said in a press release on Tuesday.

The two sides discussed the possibilities of sending Bulgarian police officers to France during the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. France has made a request to Bulgaria, as well as to all EU member states, to send police officers to take part in policing and ensuring security during the upcoming multi-sport event.

Kotsev confirmed the Interior Ministry’s readiness to provide Border Police officers, Security Police officers and, if necessary, Criminal Police officers to be deployed and take part in the implementation of specific tasks.

Other strands of cooperation in bilateral and international police operations were also discussed during the meeting, the press release further said.
