Sofia police have arrested an 18-year-old man with dual Bulgarian and Russian citizenship for attempted murder, the Interior Ministry said on Wednesday. The prosecuting magistracy has brought charges against the man, who has been detained for 72 hours.

The detainee was wanted after an alert of a victim with multiple stab wounds at the Serdika metro station in Sofia on December 21. The wounded, who is from the town of Novi Pazar (northwestern Bulgaria), has been hospitalized, as his medical condition is still life-threatening.

Police officers carried out a search in the detainee’s home, finding two knives, an air pistol, a laptop computer, a mobile phone, and other items relevant to the crime committed.
