The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) Thursday hosted a seminar on the management of processes related to the use of artificial intelligence.
The event is organized in cooperation with the Spanish Embassy in Bulgaria, Sofia Security Forum Chairman Yordan Bozhilov said. He noted that Spain holds the Presidency of the Council of the EU and artificial intelligence (AI) is among its priorities.
Spain took over the Presidency of the Council of the EU for a fifth time on July 1, 2023.
Spanish Ambassador Alejandro Polanco Mata said that like any new technology, AI raises fears and hopes.
BAS Vice President Prof. Stefan Hadjitodorov said that he believes that AI has many advantages, but also poses many risks. According to him, there is a danger that humanity will lose control over AI and it is important to have regulations.
The seminar's main objective was to discuss how the state and business can prepare for the challenges that new technologies, and in particular AI, will pose to their respective fields. Given that AI is already entering people's everyday lives, proper governance and long-term strategies are essential, the Sofia Security Forum representatives said.
