Work has begun on two of the new six metro stations: Station 5 opposite Arena Sofia, and Station 6, which will be opposite the Emergency University Hospital "St. Anna".

The event was also attended by the Head of the European Commission Representation for Bulgaria Boyko Blagoev, Sofia City governor Vyara Todeva, Slatina district mayor Georgi Iliev, the Managing Authority of the Operational Programme Transport and Transport Infrastructure 2014-2020 and head of Sofia Metro Stoyan Bratoev.

The construction site for the extension to Slatina was opened on October 24, but the real work began on Monday. The funding is provided by the Operational Programme on Transport and Transport Infrastructure.
