A helicopter was sent to extinguish the fire on the Bulgarian-Greek border, Blagoevgrad Deputy Governor Hristo Angelov told BTA Friday evening. The helicopter is supplied with water from the dam in the village of Yanovo, he explained.
The director of the State Forestry Service - Katuntsi Plamen Poyukov told BTA that as temperatures rose and the sun shone brightly, the fires that had been smouldering reignited.
