The left has proved that in times of crisis it can find the right solutions, but only when it is united, said the acting Chair of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), Atanas Zafirov, during the traditional National BSP Congress on Buzludzha on Saturday.

"BSP is not for sale. BSP is not on the stock exchange. The BSP will not be reorganised. BSP will not be infused anywhere and nothing will be infused into BSP. Anyone who claims otherwise is either an outright liar or serves foreign interests. We are trying to change the BSP because it cannot go on like this," Zafirov said.

"Peace - this is our main message", said BSP Deputy Chair and MEP Kristian Vigenin. He pointed out that the BSP, with its political partners, is ready to “lead the battle for the awakening of the disillusioned Bulgarian people”.

"It is no coincidence that the leadership chose today to be together and to write "Together" behind us. It is no coincidence that on the rostrum are representatives of each of the political parties in the left wing," said BSP for Bulgaria’s parliamentary group Chair Borislav Gutsanov. He recalled the document on common actions and common policies signed Friday by all left parties, saying that this is only the beginning of change in Bulgaria.

Plamena Zayacka from Alternative for Bulgarian Revival (ABV) said that the timelessness and the corrupt coalitions and assemblies should be ended. “Today we are together because we are obliged to show a real governance alternative,: she added.

Danail Georgiev of Movement 21 said the left and centre-left parties have declared their determination to create a powerful and strong left.
