The sixth national congress of the Bulgarian Medical Association (BMA) will start in Sofia on Friday, the BMA said. Experts from Bulgaria and abroad, including the president and vice president of the European Union of Medical Specialists, the secretary general of the Standing Committee of European Doctors, the president of the World Medical Association, among others, will discuss policies in healthcare.

The main topics are the role of the BMA, postgraduate and continuing education, prevention programmes, and health financing models.

Health Minister Hristo Hinkov, Finance Minister Assen Vassilev, National Health Insurance Fund Governor Stanimir Mihaylov, BMA President Ivan Madzharov, and Kostadin Angelov - chairperson of the parliamentary Committee on Health are expected to participate in a session titled "Policies and financing models in healthcare in Bulgaria", which will take place on Saturday. A Memorandum of Cooperation will be signed after the session.
