On November 1, the Vratsa District Prosecution Office brought in and detained two people, aged 34 and 45 for a period of up to 72 hours in pre-trial proceedings for a crime committed under Article 169 of the Penal Code, the Sofia Appellate Prosecution Office said on Wednesday.

What is known at this stage of the investigation is that on election day, October 29, the two detainees, a member and the chair of the polling station in the village of Malorad,  Borovan Municipality, altered the results from the vote in the elections for mayor and municipal councilors. A video recording of the counting process shows said member adding preferences on ballots to increase the chances of some local candidates.

The investigation into the case continues under the supervision of the prosecution service.
