Registration for the October 29 local elections opened on Monday. The window for registration closed at 5 pm on September 13, Central Election Commission Chair Kamelia Neykova told the press Monday.
By 11:30 am on the first day, eight parties and three coalitions had registered.
The parties and coalitions are required to submit a sign-in with no less than 2,500 voters backing their participation in the local elections.
If a party of a coalition is not registered with the Central Election Commission, it cannot register with the local commission and run in the elections.
