site.btaSofia Pride to Be Held June 17, Focusing on Family Diversity

Sofia Pride will take place on June 17, and the focus this year is the diversity of families and the important role that family plays for LGBT Bulgarians, organizers said. For the first time, 11 Bulgarian families will stand with their faces and names in support of the campaign, titled "Our Family Invites You to Sofia Pride 2023".

The photos were taken by one of the most famous Bulgarian photographs - Kostadin Krastev-Koko. 

Galina Georgieva, a high-ranking manager in a large international IT company, is one of the faces of Sofia Pride 2023. She takes part in the photo shoot and campaign together with her wife Elena and their son and daughter. Also part of the campaign are popular presenter and DJ Marten Roberto and his wife - radio and TV presenter Julie Lepoeva.

The organizers are giving everyone the opportunity to join the initiative and upload a photo with their family on social networks, tagging @sofiapridebg, and the most colorful suggestions will also find a place on Sofia Pride's Facebook and Instagram profiles.

The family theme is also present in the 2023 Pride visual symbol, which is inspired by Bulgarian folklore. The visual packaging incorporates elements of Bulgarian traditional embroidery and carpentry. This is another interpretation of tradition used in Pride's communication, after the campaign for the 10th anniversary of the procession used Kuker masks.

In 2022, the 15th anniversary edition of Sofia Pride gathered more than 12,000 people. Dozens of Bulgarian companies and organizations, as well as ambassadors and embassy representatives from 28 diplomatic missions, expressed their support for the parade. 

Sofia Pride is organized by the GLAS Foundation, together with the Bilitis Foundation, LGBT Action and the Bulgarian Helsinki Committee. The event is supported by the Bulgarian Women's Fund, US Embassy in Bulgaria, Embassy of Australia, Absolut, Accenture, Delinian, Draft Kings, EY, HP Enterpise, Ingram Micro, Mastercard, Progress, Paysafe, Sutherland, Walltopia and WorkNomads LAB Hotel.
