Serbia Committed to Stronger Cooperation with Russia, Foreign Minister Djuric Says

Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Marco Djuric Thursday met with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, Serbian public television RTS reported. Djuric noted the high level of Serbian-Russian bilateral relations and said his country is committed to stronger cooperation with Russia. 

He also said that Serbia attaches importance to continuous contacts at the highest and high levels, referring to the recent meeting between the Serbian and Russian Presidents in Beijing, during which the readiness to maintain ties between the two countries and further develop relations was confirmed, the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

The Serbian Foreign Minister thanked the Russian Federation for its principled position and support in defending Serbia's territorial integrity and sovereignty, stressing that such support is extremely important bilaterally and especially in international organizations.

During the meeting between the two foreign ministers, they discussed improving bilateral economic cooperation, with special attention paid to cooperation in the field of energy. 

They also discussed developments in Serbia and the current situation in the Western Balkans, according to a statement quoted by RTS.
