This vote reflects the failure of the political parties, far-right independent presidential candidate Calin Georgescu has said in a video message, commenting on the results of Romania's parliamentary elections.

Georgescu added that the outcome was expected and that the result of the parliamentary elections is the result of decisions made in Parliament over the past 35 years.

"We are talking about the consequences of wrong decisions made by Romanian politicians, as well as the result of the right decisions made by the Romanian people," Georgescu said.

Just days before the presidential elections run-off on December 8, Georgescu appealed to pensioners, people with disabilities, Romanians abroad, and various ethnic groups within Romania for their support. He also called on the people of Moldova to back him, adding, "You will have my support for whatever you think is best for your country."

Little known to the Romanian public, Calin Georgescu unexpectedly placed first in the first round of the presidential elections, largely due to his TikTok campaign. The run-off will see him face Elena Lasconi, leader of the Save Romania Union.
