site.btaAlleged PKK Member Arrested in Kirklareli in Attempt to Escape to Bulgaria

Turkish gendarmerie officers have captured an alleged member of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) trying to escape to Bulgaria, Turkiye's NTV reported. The operation was carried out in the Kofcaz district of the northwestern Kirklareli Province, which borders Bulgaria.

The suspect was found to be a PKK member and the court put him in indefinite remand.

The PKK took up arms against the Turkish State in 1984 and is designated a terrorist organization by Ankara, the EU and the US. Tens of thousands have been killed in the conflict.
